Sunset Hotel Entebbe was founded in 2008 by Olive Ayebale and Christer Torstensson, a husband-and-wife team united by a shared love for hospitality and travel.

Christer, originally from Sweden, has lived and worked in Africa since the 1980s, organizing safaris and journeys across Uganda and the wider East African region. Olive, a proud Ugandan, brought with her a deep understanding of local culture, people, and the true meaning of welcoming a guest—not just into a hotel, but into a place that feels like home.

Together, they also founded Olive Safari Uganda, a family-run tour company built on the same values of authenticity, personal service, and meaningful travel experiences. Sunset Hotel was born from this same vision: to create a comfortable, convenient, and welcoming space in Entebbe for travelers arriving in Uganda, departing, or simply passing through.

What began as a small family dream has grown steadily over the years, shaped by loyal guests, returning visitors, and word-of-mouth recommendations. While the hotel has evolved, its heart has remained the same—warm service, familiar faces, and genuine care for every guest who walks through our doors.

Today, Sunset Hotel Entebbe continues to be run with the same family spirit it was founded on, offering guests a peaceful stay, thoughtful service, and a true sense of belonging.
